Pomona Afton Can Totally Catch a Killer Book Review

Sharing is caring!

Pomona Afton Can Totally Catch a Killer by Bellamy Rose is a funny and campy cozy mystery book about a socialite trying to solve a murder.

I’m currently in my cozy murder mystery era. I just love the vibes of reading about a murder mystery that an amateur sleuth solves. Whether it’s a crime novelist, a single mother, or a rich socialite who’s trying to changer her image. Pomona Afton is that socialite and once again she needs to solve a murder. This is the second book in a series and I hope you enjoy my review of Pomona Afton Can Totally Catch a Killer.

Pomona Afton

Synopsis from Amazon

Pomona Afton knows how to throw a memorable party. After all, for her twenty-fifth birthday, she hosted a global extravaganza that included a masquerade ball in a Scottish castle, clubbing in Ibiza, and skinny dipping on a private island. So, throwing a gala for her fledgling nonprofit should be a breeze.

Unfortunately, she has to navigate the high-stakes (and snobby) world of philanthropy, a beloved boyfriend who just can’t seem to fit in, and of course, her dysfunctional family, all while planning a party that won’t only affect the future of her charity, but her own future in society.

But Pom is no quitter. She pushes forward and perseveres…until, right in the middle of her party, she discovers the body of one of her biggest donors. Suddenly all her hard work is going up in flames. If she’s going to salvage her new life path, she must put on her (incredibly stylish) detective hat again and figure out who wants to bring her down. One more measly little murder mystery shouldn’t be that hard, right?

My Review of Pomona Afton Can Totally Catch a Killer

First off, let me thank Bellamy Rose, NetGalley, and Atria for this advanced reading copy of Pomona Afton Can Totally Catch a Killer. It’s a very interesting murder mystery book.

I’m going to start my review off by saying that I haven’t read the first book of this series, and I do think it affected my reading experience. If you want to read this book, I advise you to read the first one beforehand. I feel like I didn’t understand some things because I didn’t have the first book as a foundation. It’s still a very enjoyable book.

Pomona Afton was a party girl who no one took seriously, but then she solved a murder, and everything has changed. She wants people to take her and her new foundation seriously. BUT when one of her main benefactors is found dead at her gala, she must find out who did it.

It’s a very witty, funny, and at times outlandish (in the best way) murder mystery. I had no idea who did it, but I loved solving the mystery with Pomona. One of my favorite parts of this book is just how glamorous everything in Pomona’s life seems. The private jet, the vacation houses, and the fashion.

This book is perfect for anyone who enjoys rich people behaving poorly, murder mystery books, and funny, campy vibes.
