Mom Hacks For Meal Time
- Even and Odd Days Determine Breakfast– What this means is that each morning I know what we are having for breakfast based on whether the day is even or odd. If it’s an even date, then we have a balanced breakfast. If it’s an odd date, we have a sugary, easy breakfast. For example, if it’s August 18th, it’s an even day, and we would have eggs and sausage for breakfast. If it’s August 19th, then we would have some cereal or Pop-Tarts. This makes my days easier because I save time thinking about what to make for breakfast.
- Assign a Category for Each Day of the Week for Dinner– This mom hack means that each day of the week, I assign a “category” for what to make for dinner that night. You can customize this to whatever your family prefers, but here’s my weekly menu. Monday is pasta night; Tuesday is Tacos or Mexican-themed; Wednesday is a Crockpot meal; Thursday is a chicken dinner; Friday is pizza and a movie night; Saturday is grilling out or leftovers; and Sunday is family dinner night.

Mom Hacks for Keeping Your House Clean
- Do A Load Of Laundry Every Day- Every day I do a load of laundry. I wash, dry, fold, and put away one load every day. To some people, this seems silly. This helps me stay on top of laundry without doing multiple loads in a single day. I am a mom of four kids, so we have laundry for days! Knowing that every day I’ll do laundry works better for me because then I’m not overwhelmed, but it’s just enough to stay on top of it.
- Assign A Room for Each Day of the Week to Clean– For each day of the week, I assign a room to focus on and clean. This helps me keep my house tidy and keep me from getting off course or overwhelmed by my to-do list. Here’s my schedule: Monday is bathrooms, Tuesday is kitchen, Wednesday is bedrooms, Thursday is errands, Friday is the living room, Saturday is a rotation of rooms (basement, garage, and laundry room), and Sunday is a rest day. - “Close” the Kitchen Before Bed– Basically, this means that you set a timer when everyone is in bed (or in the shower) and clean your kitchen. You can do the dishes, wipe down the counter, sweep the floors, and clean off the table. I usually set my timer for 20 minutes. If I finish the kitchen, I move on to the living room. This is a perfect way to tidy up your house before bed, and your future self will thank you in the morning!

Hacks About Kids
- Create a Chore System for Your Kids– This was something I created last school year, and it’s been a lifesaver! This is definitely one of my top mom hacks. My kids are old enough to help out around the house, and studies have shown that kids who do chores end up more successful than those who don’t. Here is the breakdown of my chore chart system and how it works: The Best Chore Chart System We Have for Our Family!
- Start implementing a “Relax” Time Before Bed- what this means is that you set aside 30 minutes before you put your kids to bed and do “relax time”. That means that everyone is in the living room, or a room of your choosing, and they can do anything they want as long as they are quiet. Plus, no devices! We encourage our older kids to read books; my husband and I also read during this time. Then the younger kids are encouraged to color, do workbooks, or puzzles. I saw this on Instagram near the end of the school year last year, and we started doing it. As a family, we enjoyed this new routine.
- Make Naptime or Relaxer Time a Priority– As a stay-at-home mom, there is nothing more sacrificed than naptime/relaxer time. If your kids have phased out naptime, create an hour where they go to their room and play quietly. If they play quietly, you can reward them with the iPad or tablet. This gives you a good break where you can get your stuff done, or just watch some TV. It’s important to fill your cup during these times.

Hacks To Keep Your Sanity
- Workout Before Your Kids Wake or During Naptime– If you want to keep your sanity, I do encourage you to get your workout in before the kids wake up or during naptime/relaxer time. It’s such a simple thing to do for yourself, and it’ll make you feel great. If I’m running, I like to do it in the morning, but if I’m doing a workout video, I usually do it during relaxer time. If you are interested in doing at-home workout videos, check out Lindsey’s awesome programs. She has many different kinds of programs and routines. - Multitask– This seems like a no-brainer for all my mom hacks, but it works! I love cleaning the house and listening to an audiobook or a podcast. Then you are not only learning something, your also keeping your house in order. Wash the dishes and listen to an incredible audiobook, like My Husband’s Wife by Alice Feeney: A NetGalley Review. You can fold your clothes and watch the news. Wait… this is about keeping your sanity; maybe don’t watch the news. Watch your favorite comfort show.
