Clean Schedule That Keeps You From Being Overwhelmed (+ FREE Printable)

Sharing is caring!

Are you feeling overwhelmed with keeping your house clean? Here’s my clean schedule that focuses on one room each day of the week.

A few years ago, my house was a complete mess! I had no idea where to start, and it seemed like all I did was laundry and dishes, but I didn’t really clean the whole house. I avoided doing the “big job” and just did the easy ones. So I started to create a clean schedule that focuses on one room each day of the week. This helped, but then I found myself only cleaning certain parts of the rooms and not focusing on the big jobs. So I finally created a schedule where each week I had a “big job” that I focused on in each room.

Below is my clean schedule, and I’ve created a FREE printable if you want to copy me. This schedule helps prevent me from feeling overwhelmed while cleaning. I just thrive with a routine and a schedule. Also, I spend about an hour each day cleaning the focus room.

Clean Schedule Overview

The basic idea behind this clean schedule is to focus on one room for an hour, tidy up the basics, and do one “big job” for that week. For example, every Monday I clean the bathrooms. That means I clean all the toilets in the house, clean off the counters, disinfect surfaces, and clean mirrors. Then, depending on what week it is, I do a “big job”. The big job for bathrooms is to focus on one bathroom and deep-clean it.

Another example is Tuesday. On Tuesdays, I clean the kitchen. If it’s week three, then I would focus on cleaning the stove top and deep-cleaning the oven. If I still have time leftover, I clean off the counter or sweep the kitchen floor. The goal of the clean schedule is to have an hour.

  1. Oh my gosh, I feel this so much! It’s so easy to get stuck just doing dishes and laundry while the rest of the house feels untouched. Love the idea of focusing on one big job each week!

    1. Yes! I was doing dishes and laundry every day but my house was still a mess. Now each room has a day of the week and I focus on that room. Sure the house isn’t spotless but at least one room is cleaned.
