Romance Summer Books
Hot Mess Summer by Melissa Foster– I listened to Hot Mess Summer on Audible and I thoroughly enjoyed it. Hot Mess Summer follows Nicole Ross, a twice-divorced single mother who decides to buy a summer cottage in a small town in New England. Little does she know that she will truly find herself, some new friends, and a lover quickly. It may be a Hot Mess Summer but I loved listening to it. Nicole is a female main character you root for to have some fun and let her hair down.
It Happened One Summer by Tessa Bailey– This book is the epitome of the grumpy/sunshine trope that I’m a sucker for (thank you Gilmore Girls). Piper is a rich and spoiled socialite whose stepfather cut her off and set her (and her sister) to run her father’s dive bar in Washington. It feels like no matter where she goes she can’t help but run into fisherman Brenden who thinks she doesn’t belong in his small town. This summer book is filled with tension between Piper and Brenden, the question is how long can they fight their feelings for each other?
Vacation Wars by Meghan Quinn– Tessa is in Santorini for the summer to celebrate her sister’s wedding. As she gets to the island Tessa’s sister reminds her of a pact she made where she must be dating someone by her wedding… or else! Forced to dodge suitors and her sister’s pranks she runs into Myles. Myles helps run his family resort that the girls are staying at. He wants to prove to his father that he is serious about running the family business. While Myles and Tessa spend more time together they help each other navigate their family’s conflicts and see they might have a future together.
Contemporary Summer Vibes
Just For the Summer by Abby Jimenez- Justin is cursed! Ever woman he has ever dated ends up meeting her soulmate the second after they break up. Emma has the same problem. As a traveling nurse she never dreamed her next assignment would be to date Justin for the summer to break their curses. When Emma’s mother shows up and Justin is giving guardianship of his three siblings, this “just for the summer” fling may become something more serious.
One Italian Summer by Rebecca Serle– Warning: This book will make you cry, call your mother, and tell her you love her! When Katy’s mother, Carol, passes away Katy’s entire world crumbles. Carol wasn’t just her mother, she was her best friend. Katy decides to go on the already planned trip of a lifetime to the Amalfi Coast. Once there Katy is starting to feel like herself again when she runs into her mother. Well her mother at 30 years old before she met Katy’s father. Over this one Italian summer Katy gets to know this version of Carol that she never knew. This book will fill you up with deep emotions and delicious foods.
Thriller Summer Books
Bad Tourists by Caro Carver– Three best friends decide to spend the anniversary of a tragic event in the Maldives. This isolated dream vacation takes an ugly turn when a dead body appears. Can these friends figure out what’s going on before the killer finds them? This book will have you wondering what’s really going on until the very end. I did not see the ending coming! (Release date: July 9th)
Bad Summer People by Emma Rosenblum- Jen Weinstein and Lauren Parker rule the town of Salcombe, Fire Island every summer. They hold sway on the beach and the tennis court, and are adept at manipulating people to get what they want. Their husbands, Sam and Jason, have summered together on the island since childhood, despite lifelong grudges and numerous secrets. Their one single friend, Rachel Woolf, is looking to meet her match, whether he’s the tennis pro―or someone else’s husband. But even with plenty to gossip about, this season starts out as quietly as any other. Until a body is discovered, face down, off the side of the boardwalk.

Love your reading lists even though they’re not my usual genre. I’ll have to check a few of these books out!
Ty for your recs!! I quite like the idea of preordering books, often find a better deal too
Same! I usually pre-order ones by authors I already love and then when they show up I’m like “Oh yea! I treated myself to a new book!”
I like how you included a list of various kinds of books. I do book reviews on my other blog, Sharing Life’s Moments. But you visited my new blog at Life Thoughts 101, and that’s how I found we have similar interests. 🙂
I am adding some of these to my to-read list. I have been reading thrillers ever since I found Kiersten Modglin’s books.
