P.S. You’re the Worst by Chole Seager is a funny story of a woman going through a crisis who writes letters to everyone, thinking she’s dying.
Imagine you go to a tarot card reader and you think they say you’re going to die soon. Would you make any extreme changes? Would you tell people how you really felt about them? Becky decides to write a letter to people telling them exactly what she thinks. P.S. You’re The Worst is a book about a messy main character who’s trying to make her life a little more bearable. This book is funny, relatable, and the kind of book you need to finish to see what happens next.

Synopsis from Amazon
Everyone knows the death card in a tarot reading isn’t a literal death sentence. Well, everyone except Becky.
Becky is not doing well. Her dreaded thirtieth birthday is looming, and she can’t help thinking she’s falling behind in life. Her (smug) friends are all planning weddings, buying houses, or starting their own businesses, but not Becky. She still lives with her mom, hates her job, doesn’t speak to her father, and—despite numerous dates—hasn’t moved on from her ex-boyfriend. Things can’t get much worse.
Becky doesn’t believe in the arcane, but armed with a gift card and a desperate need for guidance, she visits a tarot reader… who tells her she’s going to die. Convinced she’s a goner and panicked about having done nothing with her life, Becky finally takes action. She writes a series of letters to the people she loves unloading all the things she’s been holding back. And she waits.
But in the morning, she’s not dead. And worse, the mail is already reaching people’s doorsteps. Will the letters be the wake-up call Becky needs, or just the next step in a never-ending downward spiral?
With sparkling wit and compassionate insight, Chloe Seager chronicles the ups and downs of figuring out how you want to show up in life—for yourself and for the people you love.

My Thoughts on P.S. You’re The Worst
First off, thank you to NetGalley, Chole Seager, and William Morrow Paperbacks for an advanced reading copy of P.S. You’re the Worst. I really enjoyed reading this book!
This book was so good I finished it in two days! I kept wanting to pick it up and find out what was going to happen next. This is not usually the case in books that have some scenes that gave me second-hand embarrassment. Usually I need to put them down for a bit. But Chole Seager writes with such wit and honesty that you can’t help but root for Becky.
Becky is a messy main character. She’s going through a crisis and somehow makes it seem like it’s everyone else’s fault. She is relatable, self-deprecating, and witty. I loved reading her thoughts because most of them are ones I’ve had at one point. What redeems her is that she takes the criticism of her friends and realizes that it’s she who’s stuck and it’s her alone who can unstuck herself.
I loved reading the growth and self-awareness that Becky gets as the book goes on. She finds the strength to let go of habits that don’t serve her and creates new cycles for her life.
This book is perfect for any millennial who looks at their life and wonders, “What the heck am I doing?” Here’s a character who creates a dumpster fire in her life and somehow comes out the other side stronger and better. Also, if you like character-driven stories, then P.S. You’re The Worst is right up your alley!
