The Follow Through by Lauren Andrew is a closed-door sports romance book about Jordan, who’s been in love with Mackenzie since they were kids.
Sometimes, all you need is a really good closed-door romance with childhood friends-to-lovers to make your week a little better. The Follow Through is such a cute romance book that starts when the main characters are young and then continues as they grow up to their early 20s. I loved reading Jordan and Mackenzie’s love story. They overcome a lot of challenges together and prove that true love does conquer all.

Synopsis of The Follow Through
Jordan
I met the love of my life when we were fourteen.
One conversation was all it took to lock me in the friend zone—for eight long years.
I watched her fall in love with other people.
Watched her build a future that didn’t include me.
And I waited.
Now she’s back, broken and running, and I’m done pretending I only want her friendship. She’s always been mine—whether she knew it or not—and this time, I’m not letting her walk away.
I didn’t wait eight years just to lose her now.
Mackenzie
The life I spent eight years building collapsed overnight—leaving me heartbroken, unemployed, and without a place to land.
So I ran.
A new city. A fresh start. Distance from everything that hurts.
What I didn’t expect was him.
My first love. My best friend. The boy who always knew me better than anyone else. He becomes my refuge, my steady ground while I piece myself back together—but he isn’t offering friendship anymore.
He wants forever.
The problem? His forever might already include someone else—and I don’t know if my heart can survive losing him twice.

My Review of The Follow Through
First off, thank you to Lauren Andrew for an advanced reading copy of The Follow Through in exchange for my honest opinion. I enjoyed reading Jordan and Mackenzie’s love story.
This book is a closed-door sports romance about two childhood friends who, eventually, fall in love. Mackenzie is Jordan’s sister’s best friend so that adds a layer to love story when they are younger.
I loved reading their story from the very beginning. The book starts where they first meet, at a summer camp when they are young, and continues throughout the years until they are in their early 20s. Doing this adds layers to the story and a buildup of tension. The question of when they will finally come together is ever-present throughout the book.
There are so many cute scenes in The Follow Through that are swoon-worthy. When Jordan originally falls for Mackenzie, they tell their families and their teammates, and their declarations of love. So sweet, and I just loved those moments.
If you are looking for a cute love story about two childhood friends who eventually become lovers with a little bit of sports thrown in, then this book is perfect for you!
