Everyone loves a good summer novel! Am I right? Just relaxing out in the heat with your sunglasses on reading a book that you can’t put down. There’s nothing better. So I put together a list of my ALL TIME favorite summer novels just for you! Most of these novels are set in the summer and the one that isn’t is so full of drama you won’t even notice. And here they are:

1. Here’s To Us by Elin Hilderbrand

No summer novel list would be complete without Elin Hilderbrand (in my opinion). She is one of my favorite summer novelists. All of her books are set in Nantucket and each page is dripping with drama! This one I listened to on Audible while flying to and from Las Vegas last September. It is all about a famous chef who dies and his two ex-wives and one current wife return to his Nantucket home for the funeral and the reading of the will. all three of these women are completely different from one another and have nothing in common. But they come together to say goodbye to a man they once loved. There is more than enough drama, tears, and secrets in this book to keep you intrigued.

2. Big Little Lies by Liane Moriarty

If you haven’t read this book yet what are you doing with your life? No, I’m being serious! This book took me a total of two days to finish! It is one of those books that once you start you can’t stop until you’ve finished. It is technically not set in the summer but I feel there’s enough juicy drama to forgive that detail. Big Little Lies is set in Australia where someone dies at an adult school function. Throughout the book, you are given little bits and pieces as to who it is that might be dead and who might be behind it. It is also very interesting because you see the parent dynamic at the school and how there is still a hierarchy amongst the parents. Of all the books I’m sugguesting I would reccomend this be your first choice.

3. Crazy Rich Asians by Kevin Kwan

This one took me a while to get into but it is totally worth the read! I think the reason why it took me a minute to get into it was that the author had to explain a lot of things and you just have to be patient with that. This book is about an American named Rachel who agrees to go to Singapore for the summer with her boyfriend Nick. When she gets to Singapore she realizes that Nick forgot to mention that he is from one of the richest families in town. With people constantly trying to tear Rachel down and break her and Nick up Rachel realizes this is not the relaxing summer she signed up for.

4. I Couldn’t Love You More by Jillian Medoff

This one I read quite a few years ago but I still think about it from time to time. Eliot Gordon is happily married to her husband with their three daughters. Well, the oldest two are actually her step-daughters but Eliot treats them like they are her own. Then Eliot’s first love comes back into the picture throwing her for a loop. A split-second decision starts to break down the family she created. This book is perfect for anyone who has ever loved a child like they are your own or even someone who has a child. You will stay up at night thinking about that split-second decision and what your choice would be.

5. Ordinary Grace by William Kent Krueger

This book knocked me off my feet from the start. I wasn’t expecting such a great novel but boy was I blown away. Ordinary Grace is told from the point of view by thirteen-year-old Frank (although when he recounts the story he is much older) whose summer of 1961 differs from most children his age. During this summer death seems to follow in many different forms; accident, suicide, nature, and murder. This summer changes Frank from a young boy with typical concerns to a young man who sees all the secrets, lies and adultery in the adults around him. It is a very interesting novel that will keep you wanting more!
