Imposter by L.J. Ross is a mystery about a criminal profiler who reluctantly goes to a small town to solve the gruesome murder of a mother.
There’s something about a mystery book that features a criminal profiler who is forced to solve a case about a gruesome murder in a small town in Western Ireland that just screams BBC police drama. Let me tell you, I’m a big fan of BBC police dramas, so this book was right up my alley. I loved the fast pace of this book. I loved trying to guess who the killer was, but I was wrong. Dead wrong. This book is perfect for a cozy weekend where you can curl up with a good mystery and solve a murder.

Synopsis from Amazon
In the remote hills of western Ireland, fear spreads as the locals struggle to make sense of a killer who is seemingly one of their own…
Dr. Alexander Gregory, a psychologist recovering from the collapse of a high-profile criminal profiling unit, wants nothing more than a quiet life to finally sit and think things through. But his rare ability to understand the minds of violent offenders makes him hard to ignore―especially when a small town is shaken by a brutal murder. Reluctantly pulled into the case, Gregory finds himself confronting not only a cunning predator, but the darker corners of his own mind.

My Review of Imposter
First off, thank you to L.J. Ross, NetGalley, and Poisoned Pen Press for this advanced reading copy of Imposter. This thrilling book had me in a chokehold until the bitter end. Do I need more of Dr. Alexander Gregory right now? Yes, please!
Dr. Alex Gregory is called to a small town in Western Ireland after a gruesome murder and immediately ruffles some feathers with the locals. He is more focused on catching the killer and letting the people know that it’s more likely someone in their town than a stranger passing through. Trying to understand the psychology of the killer might just lead to finding the killer.
Imposter is a fast-paced, high-tension book that you will get sucked into and finish pretty quickly. You’ll think you know who the killer is at least four times. I guarantee you don’t.
One of the reasons why I think this is s great book is because of the fact that I had no idea who the killer was until it was fully revealed. My mind was blown. These are the kind of thriller books that I enjoy. The ones that you know someone did it, but not who, until it’s revealed.
If you are a fan of gripping and twisty thrillers with police procedure and a psychologist, then you need to check out Imposter by L.J. Ross.
