My name is Kelly and I’m so excited to start this process with all of you! I’ve always wanted to start a blog and express all the triumphs and mistakes I’ve made not only as a mother but as a woman in this world. Some things you should know about me: I’m 27 years old, I have two beautiful boys (JT, who turned three in November, and Ted, who will be one and a half in March), I have an amazing husband named Luke, a crazy but lovable Golden Retriever named Blue, I live in central Illinois, and I’m a stay at home mom. There’s so many more thing I could write about myself but I’ll save that for another post!
Why even Start a Blog?
Call me silly but I still remember watching Sex and the City as a young girl and idolizing Carrie. I mean the apartment and closet alone is enough to idolize but I focused more on her writing the column. She seemed to have this eloquence while also being very real about her life and her friends. Nowadays we have Pinterest to turn to which is full of people like me who want to help their make life easier. I would love to be your Carrie but unfortunately, I am more of a Charlotte lifestyle with Samantha’s humor.
One of the other reasons I wanted to start this was because I really enjoy writing. I also need something to do during nap time rather than binge watch every TV show on Netflix. You think I’m joking? Name a show on Netflix and I’ve probably watched it! Except 13 Reasons Why, that I will not touch until I feel emotionally stable.
What’s in a Name?
When I first came up with the idea to start a blog I dove head first into Pinterest trying to figure out how to start one. The main thing it said to do was to find a domain name that fits your style. Well I chose “Tomorrow is a Mother Day” because I absolutely love Gone with the Wind. The quote is at the end of the movie when Rhett leaves Scarlett all by her lonesome and she has a meltdown wondering what to do. Then she insists that she won’t think about it now, “after all tomorrow is another day!” and scene! That’s the end of the movie and please don’t get mad at me if I spoiled it for you. But I love that Scarlett is a strong female who decides to stand up and remember that tomorrow is another day. A whole new day to start something new, to be someone new, and another chance to make changes in your life. The other reason I chose this domain was because of the pun with the word “mother”. Above everything else, I’m a mother and I really wanted that incorporated in my blog name.
What to Expect?
This blog will kind of be a potpourri of my random thoughts, challenges, recipes, book reviews, and helpful parenting tips. I plan on making a post every other week until I get into the swing of things. Then my goal is to eventually post every week, unless I’m on vacation in Disney World (it happens a lot more than you think!). I’m so excited to start this new adventure with all of you!
Thank you so much for reading,
Kel
