Hello, 2021! Can we all just agree that 2020 was a dumpster fire (besides Vivian, of course)? One of my favorite things about a new year is sitting down and writing out my goals for the year. Last year I completed only one goal and that was to get Teddy potty trained. In the name of being honest, I did wait until the last second to complete that goal. Teddy wasn’t fully potty trained until the last week of December.

My 2021 Goals

Also for the first time I’ve decided to pick my word for the year. The word I’ve chosen is CONSISTENT. I want to be consistent with my blogging, with my wellness, and with my home. I’m so excited to share my big, but not beyond attainable, goals.

1: Read 52 Books!

This one I’m most looking forward to! I want to read one book a week for 2021. Last year I barely read a thing! One of the things I’ve realized this past year is that when I set time to read the books I want, then I’m a little bit happier. The way I’ll achieve this goal is by setting aside time every day to read. I’m still nursing Vivian so instead of playing on my phone I will spend one feeding reading. My TBR (To Be Read) pile is a mile long right now so reading a book a week should really dwindle it down!

2: Publish 26 Blog Posts

When I make my goals I usually have one about this very blog. I haven’t included it in my blog posts for some reason. With that, I feel like it’s let me slide on not being consistent with publishing my blog posts. So this year I’ve decided to tell you all that my 2021 blog goal is to publish 26 blog posts! This means every other week I will be publishing a brand new blog post. One of the ways I’ll be achieving this goal is by planning all my content for the month out ahead of time. I will also spend a few hours on Sundays (when Luke is home) working on my blog and my posts.

3: Start a Garden

Starting a garden just might be my most adventurous goal this year. I’m one of those people you give a plant to if you want it to die! Recently, my sister-in-law gave me one of her plants when we moved into our new home and it hasn’t died! There’s a spot in our new back yard that I think will be perfect for a garden. So please send me all your gardening tips and what plants I should do first in the comments. I’m going to need all the help I can get!

4: Run a 5K

I’m sure this seems a little silly for all you runners out there but it’s been AGES since I ran a 5K! I really want to find something that I can do where there’s just “me time”. Something I can look forward to and kind of erase my mind. The way I will be achieving this goal is by starting out slow. I will start running one mile 2 to 3 times a week. Then as time goes on and it starts to seem easier, I will run 2 miles 2 to 3 times a week. On the days I’m not running I will be doing some core and strengthing workouts along with some yoga and stretching. My hope is to complete this goal by August when the nearby town’s 5K will be.

Final Thoughts on my Goals

Now that you’ve read my goals I hope I’ve inspired you to start something new this year or work on being more consistent. Last year was a mess but this year doesn’t have to be the same. 2021 will probably not be “my year” but it doesn’t have to be. We can only go up and as long as I keep trying to be better then that’s all that matters.

Now it’s your turn! Please tell me all your goals for this year in the comments below. Don’t forget to include how you’re going to achieve them! Thanks for reading!

  1. So enlightening. I ststed blogging last year in June. One of my big goals in 2021 is to write atleast 40 blog posts and to get monetised on my new youtube channel as well.

  2. I love this! I have so many goals so I’ll just briefly go over them. I want to grow my blog following and put out contact every week. Grow my Instagram and become a successful health and fitness coach so that I can have money to travel to Europe with my husband. Also I just read a blog post with 18 steps to help you stick to your goals and achieve them. You should check it out!

  3. I have approximately the same goals. I would love to read 30 books, post at least 5 blogs/week and a daily training

  4. Some very good goals for you this year . Keep pushing and you’ll achieve . My goal is about to put a blog out every other week.

  5. Love your goals especially reading 52 books! I just launched a blog so my goal will be to blog every week. I started mapping out my content to help keep me on schedule and my husband is a big motivator!

  6. I love that you picked the word consistency for the year. I also want to be more consistent in publishing weekly blog posts this year, and I also want to read at least 20 books. Here’s to accomplishing all our goals in 2021! xo

    1. I love your idea of publishing your goals to hold yourself accountable. I need to join you in setting goals about reading more and publishing blog posts more consistently.

  7. I love your goals! I’d like to read more as well, and I agree that carving out the time and being intentional about reading is important! Props to you for doing a 5K…I enjoy running out to the mailbox when it’s cold, lol!

  8. A couple years ago I committed to a blog post a week. It was the best writing practice I could have committed to and I have kept it going. I highly recommend C25K to get to the 5K. I did that five years ago and I’ve been running at least nine miles a week ever since 🙂
