Alright folks, we are officially three months into 2019! Seems like yesterday I was kissing Luke at midnight and coming up with these goals. Now its time to put my money where my mouth is. I’m actually pretty proud of how I am doing on two of my three goals. One I’m doing a horrible job of doing and if your guess is my cleaning goal then you’d be correct! Anyway, let’s dive into my goals and I’ll let you know how I’m doing.

Goal One: Read 20 Books

This year, so far, I’ve read 6 books. At this rate, I’ve read about two books a month and that means that I’m still on track to complete my goal. I’m pretty proud of this because I’m confident I can not only reach my goal but surpass it! March was a rough month for me because I just wasn’t motivated to finish the books I’m currently reading. I’m hoping that I can go back to reading before bed because I felt like that not only worked to complete this goal but also helped me be device free before bed.

What’s not working? I think I need to conclude that if I’m not motivated to finish a book I should just stop reading it altogether. There’s no point in wasting your time reading and doing stuff that doesn’t keep your attention. I wrote down a list of all the books that I’ve read so far this year:

  1. This will only Hurt a little by Busy Phillips (January)
  2. Nine Perfect Strangers by Liane Moriarty (January)
  3. A Spark of Light by Jodi Picoult (January)
  4. Ordinary Grace by William Kent Krueger (February)
  5. At Risk by Patricia Cornwall (February)
  6. Anxious for Nothing by Max Lucado (March)

Goal Two: Feel Healthier

We are only three months into 2019 and I feel like I’m crushing this goal! The first thing I really wanted to work on was increasing my water intake. I feel like more days then not I’m drinking more water than I did in 2018. I also gave up pop for lent so that’s really helping my water intake increase. Well, I still have my cup of coffee every morning but first I try to drink 8 oz. of water.

The second way I wanted to feel healthier was to wake up at the same time every morning. Well, I think I’m doing ok with this. There are definitely days where I accidentally turn off my alarm (NEVER snooze! It’s so bad for your health. Look it up. Doctors want Apple to get rid of the snooze button.) but I’m human and we are allowed to have rough days. But I’m hoping by next check up I can say, “I wake up at 7 AM every single day!”

The last way I wanted to help achieve this goal was going device free 30 minutes before I went to sleep. Well, this has not been a strong suit of mine. UNTIL I found out on iPhones you can limit your screen times. So now I have it set up that anytime after 10:30 PM that only apps I can use are: texting, Snapchat, alarm, setting, and calculator. Everything else is off for the night and I receive no notifications until 6 AM. This has made putting my phone away before bed so much easier!

Goal Three: Making and Keeping my House Tidy

Oh cool, you guys remembered this one! Awesome! How am I doing you ask? Well… not good and that’s me being generous. The clean schedule got to be a bit overwhelming and the basement is A LOT! Ok, those are my excuses. Do you like them? Well I don’t! For the next three months, my mission is to focus on cleaning the basement, organizing it, and completing the clean schedule. I’m going to try and find the right amount of stuff to do in a day so it’s not too overwhelming. Does anyone have a weekly clean schedule that they would love to share with me? I’m in dire need of assistance!

Final Thoughts

I’m so glad I made these goals public so everyone can see that it’s alright to not perfect everything right away. You just have to make yourself accountable and be willing to change. I’m hoping by the next check up (June) I will have the basement clean, I will figure out some sort of weekly clean schedule, read 6 more books, and start exercising more. The last one is my new way of completing the “Feel healthier” goal. But enough about me! How are your goals going? Have you completed any? Do you need some help or encouragement on some? Have you written off your 2019 goals? That’s fine, just start new ones now! It’s never too late to be a better version of yourself!

    1. Thanks! The basement will definitely be cleaned this month since I’m hosting Easter. It’s just organizing it that’ll take time.

  1. I like how you mentioned that by you sharing these goals make you accountable to achieve them. I need to speak up about my goals so that it forces me to act on them! Thanks Kel!

    1. That’s why I started these goals on here. So I am accountable and to make me take a hard look at what I’m doing and not doing to achieve these goals. So what are your goals? You don’t need a new year to start goals. Start yours now!
