I’m going to be completely honest with all of you and say that last summer really kicked my butt. I was worn out, burned out, and just overwhelmed. This summer I decided to make a summer schedule to plan out our days better and give us a routine. Many studies have shown that when children have a daily routine at home they tend to thrive more.

Research shows that routines support healthy social emotional development in early childhood. In particular, children with regular routines at home have self-regulation skills, the building blocks of good mental health.

Now is every single day of summer going to look like this? No but it is nice to know what our days will look like when we have no plans. I’m excited to try this summer schedule and adapt it when I feel like changes are needed. Also, feel free to draw inspiration from my schedule and create your own.
