This is the recipe I use when I’m in charge of a side dish for a family gathering. I use cheesy potatoes as the perfect side dish for any meat main I’m serving at game day. This is the crockpot I use:

Ingredients for Cheesy Potatoes

  • A bag (30 oz) of frozen diced potatoes
  • 1 cup of sour cream
  • A can of cream of chicken soup
  • 1 teaspoon of garlic salt
  • 2 cups of shredded cheddar cheese
  • salt and pepper to taste
  • parsley (optional)

Directions

  1. Pour frozen diced potatoes into the crockpot.
  2. Mix the sour cream, cream of chicken, garlic salt, salt, and pepper in a small mixing bowl.
  3. Pour mixture into crockpot and stir together with potatoes.
  4. Add 1 1/2 cups of cheese to the crockpot and mix it all together.
  5. Set crockpot on low for 4-6 hours.
  6. Add the remaining cheese when there are 15 minutes remaining and mix again.
  7. Serve, add parsley, and enjoy!

Talk Cheesy to Me!

I could talk all day about this recipe because it has my two favorite things: cheese and potatoes! Since I don’t have all day and I’m sure you don’t either why don’t I give you some tips and tricks for this recipe. If you aren’t already you should definitely try the slow cooker liners. They make clean up easier and you don’t have to worry about the cheese melting onto the sides. Another tip is that you can double this recipe and it will fit in your crockpot. I double it all the time when we have family gatherings. My last tip is that you can add chopped onions if you want a little bit more flavor. I personally don’t add it because Luke isn’t the biggest fan of onions.

I hope you enjoy this recipe and I can’t wait to hear what you pair it with! Thank you so much for reading. Don’t forget that sharing is caring and I appreciate any share on Pinterest or Facebook.

    1. Thanks! I love how simple it is too! You can have it cooking in the crockpot while someone is cooking food on the grill during BBQs.

  1. Oh yum! My Grandma makes cheesy potatoes for every party and has shared a similar recipe with me. But I’ve never thought to make them in a crockpot. What a game changer…so easy and delicious!

    1. I’ve only made them in the crockpot because of how easy it is! But I would love to hear about how your grandma makes them!
