Valentine’s Day is right around the corner, and with all the kids’ stuff planned out and ready to go, I forgot about my Valentine (my husband, Luke). 1. Have a Movie Night
This is first on the list because you can make it as simple as possible, or you can go big! You could stay simple and order a pizza, pop some popcorn, have some snacks, and watch a movie. This is a perfect, simple at-home Valentine’s Day date idea, or you can go bigger! You can make a fort in your living room, have their favorite movie theater snacks, popcorn ready, have their favorite drink, and watch a cute romantic comedy (or a thriller if that’s their vibe). Basically, I think this is the best one because you can make it crazy or keep it simple. Either way, it’ll be a great time.
2. Have a Game Night Together
Well, this one depends on the type of people you are. My husband and I could have a game night, and it would be fun… for the winner. I’m just kidding! But honestly, I think a game night would be fun. There are plenty of two-player games you can play with your partner. You can have snacks ready and drinks to enjoy. Below are some two-player games you should check out:

3. Make a Puzzle Together
There’s something so relaxing about setting up a puzzle with someone and spending the night building it together. I just think it sounds so relaxing. Find yourself a 500 or 1000-piece puzzle and go to town! My husband and I did one with sitcom families on it one year, and we really enjoyed it. This is the peak of simple at-home Valentine’s Day date ideas.
4. Make a Romantic Dinner Together
Making a romantic dinner together is a fun way to spend time with your partner and achieve a goal together. There are plenty of great dinner recipes in the world, and you can make something you’ve never tried before. I find trying a new recipe is easier with some because they can read the instructions while you are cooking. Below are some recipes from the blog that would be perfect for a romantic dinner:
- Easy Steak and Potato Dinner
- Delicious And Easy One Pot Garlic Shrimp Pasta Recipe
- Easy Sheet Pan Lemon-Garlic Salmon with Green Beans
- Delicious One-Pan Cilantro-Lime Shrimp, Black Beans, and Rice
5. Do a DIY Project Together
Now, this one is cool, but it could be an all-day project. It’s not on the simple side, but for some people, it could be a great way to spend Valentine’s Day. As long as you are both on the same page and have all the tools you need. This could be a really fun way to spend your time together. Plus, how cool would it be to show people what you made!
6. Solve a Fake Murder Mystery Together
A couple of years ago, I got a “solve a murder” game for my birthday, and I think it would make a fantastic at-home Valentine’s Day date idea. Granted. This activity is not for everyone, so make sure both you and your partner love solving crimes. I think this would be perfect to do while eating some pizza and drinking some beer and pretending your detectives on a cool cop drama.

7. Do A Scavenger Hunt Around Your House
Making a scavenger hunt around the house sounds like a fun way to have a little competition and some laughs. Both you and your partner can write down 8 things the other person needs to find around the house, and once you finish you can laugh about all the things you found. I think this is a pretty unique and interesting way to spend your time together.
8. Set Up An At-Home Wine Tasting or Beer Tasting
Setting up a wine tasting or beer tasting at home sounds like a fun way to spend your Valentine’s Day together. You could each pick out 2 wines or two beers, then you can try them together and give out awards for the ones you like the best. Adding another step, you could find a snack or cheese to pair with the wine or beer. It could be really fun finding things that go together.
9. Get a Book For Each Other and Read Together
This one is my favorite at-home Valentine’s Day date idea! Before you plan on celebrating Valentine’s together, you could plan to pick out a book for the other person and a snack. Then, on the day you plan to celebrate, you could present the book and the snack. Then you will sit down on the couch or in front of a fireplace and read together. It would be a fun idea for people who love to read.
