I don’t know about you but I’m feeling 2022! Does anyone else have this stuck in their heads? I swear it has been on a loop in my head for the last two weeks. So, we should really feel 2022! Now, what does that mean? To me, it means that this year I’m going to do new things, especially when it comes to reading.
Last year I set a goal of reading 52 books in one year. No, I didn’t accomplish that goal but it was pretty eye-opening to the kind of books I’m drawn to. I found myself reading more contemporary novels and not having a very diversified genre of books. This year I decided to challenge myself (and you!) to read one book a month from the genres below. Most months the genre was chosen at random but some months HAD to have a certain genre (Romance for February, Thriller for October, etc.).

Final Thoughts
I don’t know about you but I’m feeling these genre choices! (See what I did there?) I’m really excited to expand my genre choices for 2022 and step out of my reading comfort zone. I hope you take a chance and join me in reading some of these genres. Let me know in the comments below what genre you are most looking forward to. I think the ones I’m most looking forward to reading are fantasy, true crime, and history.

My goal is to reach 35 books this year! In 2020, I read 50 books so I set a high goal last year and fell short. Now I’m trying to aim for a middle number.
This is such a fun challenge!! I would love to participate someday!
Thanks! It’s just a challenge to encourage people to read outside their comfort zones.
I love reading challenges, I’m in!
But in full honesty I may do January and February both in February. I don’t think the reading challenge police will come for me, though. Lol
I tend to stick to the same genres, so I love this idea! I saved the list to join in on the challenge. 😊
Awesome! I definitely stick to the same genres of books. I’m excited to branch out and try new ones.
I love the idea of reading different genres each month! I usually get stuck with one genre the whole year! Thank you for sharing 🙂
Exactly! I find myself gravitating towards a certain genre. Now I want to read new genres for 2022.
I’m a fan of reading challenges. I just created one on the Unlit Leadership site, though I must admit, yours seems like it is enjoyable. Deciding to make a book challenge that’s only a book a month is manageable for us busy folks. I will check it out.
Thanks! I figured if you enjoy the genre you might try more, but if you don’t then at least it’s only one book. I’ll have to check out your reading challenge!
Yay! My favorite type of challenge! Reading is a happy place for me, so I am excited to dive into 5 books a month as my goal. Thanks for the encouragement!
I wish I was feeling 2022, but your post gave me motivation! ✨ Bring on the good reads!!! 📚
I really need to get on my January book! Im trying to read a book a month this year, and I am struggling so far. SMH.
This is amazing post because I am looking for books to read all the time! I’m in the middle one right now but I will take these into consideration. Amazing post!
