Sharing is caring!

These sourdough chocolate chip scones are easy to make and are deliciously sweet. My family loves this recipe, and it’s a great little treat.

Last year, I decided to try making my own sourdough. I had a very generous friend who gifted me her starter, and I got started. Now, it’s been a year of sourdough, and I’m feeling more confident to make something other than a loaf. I thought I would try this sourdough chocolate chip scone recipe, and it was amazing! Not only did I fall in love with these scones but everyone loves these scones. If you are looking for a sweet sourdough recipe that can be made that day, then this recipe is perfect for you!

Last week, I asked my Instagram followers to choose between sourdough chocolate chip scones and chicken noodle soup as the next recipe on the blog. I love this setup because then you can choose which recipe you’d like to see on the blog next. Both recipes got the same number of votes, so I decided to share this one first, then I’ll share my chicken noodle soup recipe.

Tips and Tricks for The Sourdough Chocolate Chips Scones

If you are wondering what 100% hydration means for the sourdough starter, it means that the sourdough, flour, and water are all equal amounts when you mix in the morning. So you would mix 100 grams of discard, 100 grams of flour, and 100 grams of water.

If you are wondering what my day looks like when I make these and what time I bake them, here is what it looks like: At 8 am, I mix the discard, water, and flour to get the sourdough active. Then, around 3 PM, I start making the scones. Your goal is to have the starter double in size and look like it’s at its peak.
